Hello, it’s time for another edition of Photo Friday! Here in Korea it’s actually Saturday, but no biggie. Most of you are American so it works out.
Welcome to Suwon, South Korea!
This is the view I have from my apartment, a wide open view of the distant mountains. I got pretty lucky in that respect. A lot of people who’ve posted videos of their Korean apartments on YouTube have views of tightly packed apartment buildings. However, most of them also have bigger and/or nicer apartments than I do. Not that I’m complaining, I’ve got all I need.
Everything is really close too. On the ground floor of my building is a small grocery store, an ATM that accepts foreign cards, and restaurants. In my neighborhood, there’s a school, a park, dozens of restaurants, and enough shops to find nearly anything I could need.
One thing that has stood out to me is how close in these rice fields are. They’re literally right in town. There’s a huge belt of fields that run along my side of town. You can see it in the picture above. Considering Suwon is such a large city, over 1.2 million, I never would have expected that.
I’ve been here 10-days and now that I’m settled in, it’s time to get out there and explore. Stay tuned for updates on hiking and other adventures.
Thanks for visiting!
